Geocache Description:

This cache is near a waymarker which shows the distance to a number of places around the world that can be cycled to from here. It is made from a victorian cast iron vent that was uncovered near to power station hill during the road building. It has been decorated by local school children. There is a short scramble off the tarmac path. It can be a bit muddy. There is inactivated geotag for the FTF.

This is one of a set of caches placed along the new community route alongside the church village bypass. This road has been in the planning stages since the 1950's and finally opened on 7th Sept 2010. The first cars along it were Gilbern cars which were produced in Llantwit Fardre from the 1950's to the 1970's, about 100 being made. The community route runs from Cross Inn to Tonteg and was opened on 8th August 2010. It is possible to park at various places just off the new road to access the community route. At Cross Inn it is at N 51 32.305 W 003 21.665. More information on www.churchvillagebypass.com
