Another series of caches to bring you to just a few of the great walking tracks around the area. Inside the lid of each cache, and inside the back cover of the log books, is part of the co-ordinates to the final cache in this series. For those of you who enjoy a challenge do the series in sequence. It’ll be a good walk/tramp in a loop on well formed tracks, footpaths and cycle tracks that will take you about 2 1/2 hours, depending on how long it takes to find the caches.
The 3rd cache of 6 in this series. Welcome to Te Araroa – “The Long Pathway”. A walking and tramping trail from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south - Down the coastline, through the forest, across farmland, over volcanoes and mountain passes, along river valleys, and on green pathways across seven cities. Te Araroa Trust was incorporated in August 1994 to lay in, with whatever groups were willing, a New Zealand-long foot trail.
Please note some of these walkways can get slippery when wet.. please take care
If following on from # 2, follow the undulating contours of the trail, alongside bush streams and open fenced farmland.
Alternative access to the track is from the car park in Old West Road, and is reached by crossing under the highway at the Turitea Stream Bridge.
The cache is a medium size container
