Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America
requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21
required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that
— on average — requires 167 service hours. In 2008
alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the
national volunteer hour value of $19.51).
Find
the North Jackson Trailhead, located just off Jackson street (Hwy
41A), near Tullahoma High School, on the Rock Creek Greenway. Once
you locate the trail head, you are on your way to find the next Boy
Scout of America (BSA) cache to Eagle! Not far along this trail,
you will find an outdoor class room, take some time to look around
and see the site. A lot of BSA Eagle projects can be seen - from
the podium to the seating, all part of past Eagle projects and
scouts hard work to the trail to Eagle! Once finished at the
outdoor class room, get back on the Rock Creek Greenway, and walk
along the trail and over a short foot bridge. Continue to walk
along the trail and on your right, you will find a small wooded
area. Take a close look for a clump of 2 trees. Look closer at the
trees, they might have the prize you seek! Look hard for this micro
Eagle cache, tucked in the old clump of trees you see.
While in the area, take some time to hike the Rock Creek
Greenway. There are several other caches in the area, and on the
trail, as you enjoy your day hike.
