You’re a good hour in to your search. You’re
annoyed. You’re frustrated. You’re ready to call it a
day. But – come on! It’s only a 1.5/1.5 cache! How hard
can it be?!? And it’s not like there are a lot of places to
search around here. There’s the lightpost. That planter over
there. But that’s 40’ away from where you’re
zero-ing out. There’s a line of shrubs. Evergreens, of
course. You hate evergreens. But you’ve looked through those
like they contain the lost treasure of the Incas and still no
cache.
”Maybe it’s been muggled”, you muse. But
no… a quick login to your geocaching ap on your smart phone
(smarter than you, apparently) shows that the cache was just logged
earlier that morning – not even hour before you got there.
Oh… and let’s not forget Dan. Oh-so-smug-Dan who just
went on-and-on at the last coffee chat about how easy of a hide
this was. And you had to tell him you were going to be looking for
it today. So he knows you’re here. He’ll know if you
don’t log a DNF.
Now you start grasping at straws… “Let’s
re-read the write-up… see if I missed
anything…”
”Wait… what the?!? Oh &*%$! I’ve been
searching at the wrong coords! These are the @#*% parking
coordinates!”
Sound familiar? Willing to admit that you’ve fallen victim
to CMIGC #38: Parking Coordinates?
Don’t let it happen to you again here! That’s right
– there is no cache at the posted coords. They are…
Parking coords! The actual cache can be found at N41o07.499'
W081o50.249'. Unless you want to be a victim
of delicious irony – search at these coords, not the posted
ones.
The terrain at the actual cache location is a bit steep –
so watch your footing. Heavy rains also have a tendency to wash out
this area, so be sure the cache container is securely in place
before moving on. As always, please reseal the cache container
completely to ensure the contents stay dry and return the cache as
you found it so others may enjoy the same caching
experience.
Medina’s Roscoe Ewing Park is open from 6AM to 11PM and
pets are welcome on a leash.
The park also houses a disc golf course. This should not be a
problem at the cache site, but you may encounter a stray disc on
the walk over depending on your point of entry to the park. Keep a
look out!
Special Thanks to the City of Medina Parks Department for
