El Parque Periurbano Hacienda Porzuna, de 20 hectáreas, se sitúa en el término municipal de Mairena del Aljarafe, en la margen izquierda del arroyo que le da nombre, a 6 kilómetros de la ciudad de Sevilla. Sobrevive en un entorno cada vez más transformado por el hombre, densamente poblado y que, poco a poco, va perdiendo su carácter rural. Sin embargo, este espacio natural hace posible la conservación de los recursos naturales típicos de la cornisa del Aljarafe y el recreo de poblaciones cercanas, como la capital hispalense.

Es una finca de propiedad municipal, que abrió sus puertas al público en 1999. Se trata de un espacio natural protegido que representa una apuesta de futuro por la biodiversidad y el paisaje de la comarca. La hacienda Porzuna es la sede de la Agencia Municipal de Medio Ambiente y Energía, Organismo Autónomo del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Mairena del Aljarafe.

Este espacio posee una importante capacidad para compatibilizar la conservación de los valores naturales con una vocación recreativa de gran importancia, habida cuenta del entorno densamente poblado en que se localiza. Al recorrerlo se puede disfrutar de un bosque mediterráneo, recuerdo del paisaje que junto a la campiña, caracterizaba a esta comarca décadas atrás. Otro de los atractivos que ofrece el espacio es la visita al antiguo Cortijo de la Hacienda Porzuna, de interés histórico artístico y en perfecto estado de conservación. Con estas características este Parque Periurbano supone un entorno privilegiado para actividades relacionadas con la educación ambiental.

La Hacienda Porzuna representa uno de los paisajes más interesantes de la provincia: el Aljarafe. Esta zona aparece como una extensa loma inclinada que desciende suavemente hacia las marismas. Esta comarca, entre los ríos Guadalquivir y Guadiamar, acoge el Paisaje Protegido del Corredor Verde del Guadiamar, un entorno idóneo para el paseo. Paralela al Río Pudio se encuentra la Cañada Real de Medellín a Isla Mayor, una de las vías pecuarias más importantes de la Península que, hoy día, se encuentra adecuada para ser recorrida a pie, en bici o a caballo.
