Somewhere in here the Talkeetna Mountains give way to the Chugach Mountains...
Over the past four years few caches have captured my imagination like the Sylvester Glacier cache...I have made several attempts at going there. I have planned even more trips. It is still unfound. This was the latest chapter in the story...I made it a little past this cache location.
With this cache, I am giving the beta on how to do Sylvester cache without an airplane.
Access the trail from Telcom road. Park near the bottom of the hill and follow the trail in. You will pass Goober Lake and head north to the cache. The cabin on the map isn't one you will want to hang out in very long.
This is a phenominal area accessible by four wheeler, horse, foot, unicycle, dog team, and probably even on a donkey if you were so inclined. We heard some wolves howling on our way out and grizzley bears are ever present. Use caution. Enjoy the blueberries and caribou in season.
