How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A beautiful rural spot (between St Jean d’ Angely and Saintes) . The church is a fine example of the Romanesque period in the Saintonge style. Close by it is one of the best Lanternes des Morts in France. A torch could be useful. (Access to the actual cache is difficult for a wheelchair user, but most of the site is perfectly accessible.)

The coordinates are those of the car park which is beyond the church and the Mairie, and please note that you will have passed a shady picnic site 300 metres earlier. The car park has information panels that will help you.
EN. When you’ve found the cache and signed the log, please make sure you put it back so that it cannot slip down and out.

To extend your visit after cache-hunting you might continue for a few hundred metres downhill along the St Jacques de Compostella route to find the “fontaine” with its stone topping.

D: the total number of steps from the doorway right up to the top (FR. Le nombre de toutes les marches de la porte jusqu’au la plus haute)
A: the number of corbels high above the decorated west door of the church (FR, le nombre des corbeaux en haut dessus le portail decore de l’ouest de l’eglise)
