Geocache Description:

2 stage multi laid with the kind permission of the Friends of Walkden Gardens. Take the time to enjoy this lovely park.
Note: There is no need to disturb any plants, shrubs or wildlife to discover this cache. Take care to leave no trace of your search!

Stage 1: A nano cache containing the coordinates of stage 2. This is in an open area so please take care not to give away the location and replace in the same place.

Stage 2: A small clip-lock container. A small amount of exploration may be required as the trees may affect GPS; however remember there is no need to disturb any plants to discover it and you should be OK. Again, stealth may be required as the park is popular. Please replace and disguise carefully.

The Wedding Gift was given to Mr & Mrs WiggyChick on their wedding day 30th May 2010 by their bridesmaid and her husband, both fellow geocachers.
It has now been stuffed full of goodies and a couple of TBs for Cachers to seek out. Don't forget to leave something behind if you are going to take something.

There is a small certificate and medal for First To Find. (Congrats to jamange!)

The bench in the Japanese garden is the spot that Mr WiggyChick proposed after a treasure hunt around the gardens.
On publication the cache included an Engagement Ring TB, with a mission to seek out other romantic spots.

Stealth required, especially on sunny days.
Terrain is level except the last few metres.
Opening hours 9am to 4pm, extending to 7pm in the summer. No access outside of hours. (Note have been advised that gates sometimes open earlier than 9am)
Dogs allowed on a leash only.
Parking and access free, though there are occasional charging events, usually in evenings. Check website for details.

Walkden Gardens known locally as ‘The Maze’ or ‘The Secret Garden’ has for too long been a closely guarded secret, many people who have lived in and around Sale all their lives may not until recently have been aware of these remarkable gardens.
The gardens, a little over 5 acres were inspired by the famous 20th century garden at Hidcote Manor in Gloucestershire; there are many similarities. Long alleys with vistas, a series of smaller garden ‘rooms’ (some originally intended for individual plant species) and the unique and beautifully proportioned Theatre Lawn – a large enclosed space that can seat up to 500 people, but perhaps better appreciated when you are alone, are all surrounded by tall beech hedges.
