This cache has been archived.

SageInThyme82: This letterbox cache has been pretty LUCKY, lasting over 8.5 years, beginning and ending on a Friday the 13th. But it is time to archive, since the host tree has been mowed down along with the entire back field. Good LUCK, cachers, on your future adventures!

Geocache Description:

This letterbox cache is NOT at the published coordinates listed above.

According to ancient Slavic folklore, the raskovnik has the magical property to unlock or uncover anything that is locked or closed. However, legends claim it is notoriously difficult to recognize the herb, since there are many look-alike plants out there.

This letterbox-hybrid geocache is placed near a huge four-leaf clover (just check the aerial maps). Stamp your letterbox-log with the stamp inside, and maybe taking this raskovnik with you might act as a good luck charm to help you uncover and unlock caches along your journeys.

I used to have breakfast with a men's group every other Monday nearby, and our favorite waitress, Mary, had worked here for more than 30 years before this restaurant closed. I heard the company allowed her to transfer to the other site across town. On a side-note, although the Irish word for a 3-leaf clover is seamróg, (giving us shamrock), the Irish term for a 4-leaf clover is actually seamair Mhuire, meaning “Mary’s clover”.

To find this letterbox, in the classic tradition, start from the coordinates given, then follow the fenceline WSW until it takes a small bend, more like SW. Instead of following the curve, keep going at the same angle into the middle of the field. Your geo-senses should be tingling at this point, since there's really only one obvious spot. But however easy to guess, you'll still have to climb through some thorns and prickles to reach the container, hanging inside the clump of trunks.
If the stamp-pad is dry, you can always try rubbing a pen-tip or marker across the ridges of the shape to stamp your logbook.
