2LTIME: In letzter Zeit ist es hier deutlich ruhiger geworden. Auch mein eigenes Interesse hat sich nach vielen Jahren Geocaching in andere Richtungen entwickelt. Ich denke damit ist der richtige Zeitpunkt gekommen hier Platz für etwas Neues zu machen. Dankeschön für die vielen netten Kommentare, Fotos und Favoritenpunkte 🙂

Die Teufelsmauer

Im Habichtswald bei Kassel wurde zu Beginn des 18.Jahrhunderts Tuffstein für das Herkulesbauwerk gebrochen. Ein Gestein wird als Tuff bezeichnet, wenn es zu 75 % aus vulkanischer Asche und insgesamt zu mehr als 75 % aus Pyroklasten besteht. Mit Polyklasten sind Gesteinsfragmente definiert, die durch Zerreißen, Fragmentierung oder durch direkte Kristallisierung infolge vulkanischer Aktivität aus einem festen oder flüssigen vulkanischem Ausgangsmaterial entstanden sind. Im Zuge dieser Arbeiten wurde ein natürlicher Basaltgang freigelegt, die sogenannte Teufelsmauer. Ihre Länge beträgt ca. 30m und sie ist etwa 8-10m hoch und 90cm stark. Entstanden ist diese Gesteinsformation indem aufsteigendes, glutflüssiges Magma die Erdoberfläche nicht erreichte und sich seitwärts in ein weicheres Sedimentgestein (hier Tuffstein) hinein ergoss und allmählich erkaltete.

Wegen ihrer besonderen Eigenart wurde die Teufelsmauer als Naturdenkmal ausgewiesen und somit unter Naturschutz gestellt.

Um den Cache zu loggen, macht von Euch oder Eurem GPS ein Foto vor der Mauer (inzwischen bei Earthcaches keine Pflicht mehr aber immer ein nettes Dankeschön für den Owner) und beantwortet mir folgende Fragen:

1) Wie stark (in cm) ist die Teufelsmauer in etwa?
2) Um welches Sedimentgestein handelte es sich im Entstehungsvorgang?
3) Wieviele besonders MARKANTE vertikale Felsspalten sind vom Fuße der Teufelsmauer (N51°17.350 E009°22.792) im Fels DEUTLICH zu sehen? Zwei davon sind auf dem Foto (und dem zusätzlichen Spoiler-Bild) zu erkennen, die restlichen der zu zählenden Spalten befinden sich LINKS AUßERHALB des Bildausschnittes!

Achtung! Um Frage Nr.3 zu beantworten, folgt bitte dem ausgeschilderten Weg zum Fuße der Teufelsmauer

Da die Infotafel zu Frage 1 und 2 nicht mehr existiert, lest nochmal meinen Text gut durch, das sollte helfen ;-)

Um den Earthcache loggen zu dürfen, schickt mir einfach die E-Mail mit der Antwort. Ihr braucht nicht auf eine Freigabe warten! Sollte irgendwas nicht stimmen, melde ich mich. Ansonsten gilt die Logerlaubnis als erteilt!

Übrigens, ganz in der Nähe ist auch noch ein Tradi zu finden... Wenn man schon in der Gegend ist, lohnt sich auch dort ein Besuch!

The Devil's Wall

In Habichtswald near Kassel at beginning of the 18th century the Work for Herkules building has uncovered a natural basalt motion in the tuff rock, called Devil's Wall. Tuff is a rock out of 75% volcanic ash and total consists of more than 75% of pyroclastic. With Polyklasten rock fragments are defined that are caused by tearing, fragmentation, or by direct crystallization as a result of volcanic activity from a solid or liquid volcanic source material. Its length is about 30m, 90cm width and it is about 8-10m high. The result is this rock formation by rising, molten magma which Earth's surface not reached and sideways in a softer sedimentary rocks (tuff rock) poured into it and gradually cold.

Because of their special nature, the devil's wall designated natural monument, and thus placed under protection.

To log the cache, make a photo (if you like) of you or your GPS at the wall and answer the following questions:

1) How much (in cm) is the Devil's Wall in about?
2) To which sedimentary rocks were, in development process?
3) How many STRIKING vertical cracks are from the foot of Devil's Wall (N51°17.350 E009°22.792) in the rock to see clearly? Two of them you can see on the (Spoiler-) Photo. The other cracks you'll find at the left side out of the picture area!
