Geocache Description:

Easy cache and dash.
Small tupperware box with a few items to swap. Located on Church Lane in the village of High Worsall. Should be mostly muggle-free (apart from 2 houses nearby). Drive right along and park just before the private road gates. Cache is located beyond these gates, which is a public footpath.
Lovely walks all around taking in the River Tees and a ruined 18th century chapel.
Please make sure it is well hidden after finding!

Throughout the Middle Ages and later, Yarm had been the main port on the river Tees. In 1732 however Thomas and Richard Peirse built a wharf at Low Worsall and the produce of North Riding was sent down to Stockton, while imports from Scandinavia and Northern Europe were brought back to Low Worsall. Despite the difficulties of sailing ships above Yarm the enterprise prospered. Thomas Peirse occupied and developed the manor house and a whole community grew out of the trade on the river. For a variety of reasons however the enterprise faltered and in 1779 Thomas Peirse was declared bankrupt.
