Geocache Description:

This is a camo'd Preform container with a one dollar silver certificate inside for the FTF. It is near where the school used to be. Had to move it a bit due to the tree it was in is no longer there. Happy hunting :)

This cache is a tribute to Magahay Elementary School. Both my daughters attended school here with Jenna making it to the end of third grade when it closed. She misses her school very much so I told her I would place a cache in honor of Magahay. Magahay opened in 1968. Regarding the dedication of Magahay School in the late 1960s this is something a teacher at Magahay came across from a newspaper article dated May 1969: At the dedication of the Magahay Elementary School on Sunday, the qualities of "humanity, integrity, and responsibility" were predicted to inspire 36,000 students in 50 years. The inspiration to come from the school's namesake- Harry Magahay. The white-haired, gentle, gracious Harry Magahay was visibly moved by the honor and praise heaped on him by every speaker. The close-to-tears expression as he humbly acknowledged the dedication was also memorable and moving enough to bring hundreds of people to their feet clapping." Magahay closed it's doors June 2010. Thank you to all the wonderful teachers, principal and staff. Jenna is fortunate enough to have some at her new school. Farewell Magahay, you will be missed.
