You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

Located in a nice community park with play ground, community hall, bowling greens and an outdoor rink

There is a plaque at the posted coordinates, indicating the year the park was created. Take the last 2 digits of the year, add 3 and divide by 2. Add the result to the North decimal minutes. There is a green sign with a number in white very close by. Subtract 23 from this number and divide the result by 2. Subtract 1 and add this to the West decimal minutes. These new coordinates are the location of the cache.

The cache is a lock and lock camouflaged suitable for small items and travel bugs.

HISTORY

Galetta is a village in located near the mouth of the Mississippi River where it flows into the Ottawa River. Once part of Fitzroy Township and later West Carleton Township, it is now part of the City of Ottawa. In the 1870s the village included a store, a grist mill, a woolen mill, a carding and spinning mill, a shingle mill, and a cooperage.

Considerable prosperity came to the Village of Galetta when the Arnprior and Parry Sound railway was completed in 1893. The Galetta Electric Light Company was formed in 1907 to provide electricity for the Town of Arnprior. This powerhouse subsequently provided power locally to the Village of Galetta and to the Kingdon Mine.

The Kingdon Lead Mine brought another wave of economic boom to the area when it was re-activated in 1914 to meet the demand for lead during WW I. The mine then operated continually until it was closed in 1931.

This main building of the Community Centre was originally called Whyte's Hall (later Russell's Hall) and was located on the Main Street (now Galetta Side Road). It was moved to the present location and the Donald MacHardy Lawn Bowling Greens were established in 1992. The Rink & Sport Centre were completed in 2000.

A set of mill stones and a water wheel are on display near the entrance to the grounds.
