Geocache Description:

The hiking books rank this hike as easy, I can say that I agree with them. If you have the proper route this is a nice easy hike. It took us four hours to reach the summit. The books say 3-5 hours for the trip. Depending on what direction you approach from I would recommend you give yourself plenty of time. This is a 10-13 mile out and back hike so plan accordingly. There are two routes up the mountain and only one is easy, the other is moderate to difficult. All other routes are professional class and require lots of skill, ropes, prayer and a touch of insanity.

The summit sits at 4665' and you will gain most of this if you come from Indian and a bit more if you approach from Glen Alps as you will drop considerably from the top of Powerline Pass.

This might be available in the winter. The good route will become very steep and scary given a good snow pack. I recommend this in the warmer months. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLIMB THE NORTH FACE!

The North side of this mountain is not recommended to climb as it is very steep and the rock is rotten. Look at the maps and online sources and you will see the two routes up this peak.

The cache is a camo medicine bottle and is on the second point at the top, the summit log is at the summit. When I found it there was a 35mm container there and we thought we had found an old geocache, but alas it was not. Just an old rail pass from Connecticut.

The cache contains a new unactivated Geowoodstock VIII coin for the FTF.

Placed under Chugach State Park Permit 09-076
