Mount Manaia ,Elevation 403m. This is one only for those with a strong head for heights, judge for yourself, definitely no kids. What I'm saying here is only attempt if you are confident at rock climbing, however you won't need any specialist equipment just common sense and good weather conditions. Carparking is below the Manaia club (S35 49.272 E174 30.580) , the track begins just above the carpark and is 3.5 km and approx 1 hour to the top.Track has recently had extensive improvements with new stairs and paths and has been closed for a good part of 2010 during the upgrade.The track leads you through beautiful native bush,gradually getting steeper towards the top where you will be rewarded with incredible views and a well constructed viewing platform. From the platform you will need to proceed to the track that spirals around the face of the summit(see pic) where you will see the final 20m of mountain goat material around the far side.There are natural foot and handholds to allow you to get to the trig,It is best to remove any unnecessary gear so you don't get hooked up on anything ( there are plenty of places to stash your gear). Rather than negotiating the tree in the gap you can either go through the crevice or go around to the left from the viewing platform start point.On the day I placed the cache there were 40km/h winds and I still felt okay but I suggest you check the forecast before attempting.Good luck.
