2cvdriver: I've decided to archive the cache. There have been three caches in this park and all have been stolen and or vandalized. Time to let someone else give it a try.

Kingston is rich in history…. It was the first Capital of New York State and even was in the running to be the Nation’s Capital.
In 1777, the British forces had reason to see the village of Kingston as a hotbed of perfidy and sedulous disloyalty to King George the Third and His Majesty's Parliament. The farmers near Kingston had provided Washington's troops with wheat and other food supplies (Kingston would become known later as "the breadbasket of the Revolution"). In September of 1777, John Jay and other leading patriots met in a stone house in Kingston to declare the province a sovereign state and establish the first New York State Senate. In a nearby building, the first State Assembly met. Kingston became New York State's first capital.
In October, General William Clinton brought British forces up the Hudson on the way to meet Burgoyne coming down from Canada. It was an opportunity to punish Kingston. Landing at nearby Kingston Point, Clinton's forces marched on the village and put the torch to every house in the village but one. The residents fled to Hurley, a smaller village several miles away.
Loughran Park is where the cache is hidden. The park was named after Mabel and James Loughran the original owners of the property that deeded it to the City of Kingston in the 1930’s. Many of the local residents use these park facilities that include: tennis courts, basketball courts, a ball field, play ground, and a pavilion.
This cache is rated with a difficulty level of 3 because of several factors. #1 - You will have to use stealth!!!! It is out in the open and since this park is frequently used you will have to time your approach when muggles are least likely to spot the suspicious person wandering through. #2 – There is no place to hide and go through the cache once you have recovered it – so planning is a must. #3 – The park, like all Kingston City parks, is only open from sunrise to dusk only – don’t enter it after dark – the police frequently patrol the area and issue appearance tickets for violating the ordinance. #4 – You will need a vital piece of information that I have provided when you arrive – You’ll see what I mean (followed by evil laughter).
