A quick cache and dash on common land at Heol Fain just off the B4265. Bison tube container, BYOP.
The area is known locally as Wick Beacon, is an area of common land, a small ecological site including a small overgrown pond. Given its proximity to Tusker Rock (named after Tuska the Viking, a Dane) it is likely that Wick was a focus for Viking attacks on the South Wales coast as the village is visible when sailing up the Bristol Channel. Local folklore suggests that beacons were lit on high ground around the village to warn of such raids and that attacks were fiercely resisted. The locals now welcome visitors. The name Wick or Y Wig suggests there was woodland at some time however there is little tree cover in the area now. The view from here is one of Glasfory's favourites
