A quick park and grab located in a quiet community.
A hundred years ago, Mobjack was a bustling seaport. A steam boat would leave here every morning, headed to Norfolk. If you needed to go to Norfolk, this is how you got there. In the evening, the boat would bring you back, along with barrels of oil, sacks of grain, creates of whatever locals had ordered. Oyster shucking houses also lined the shore. Growing up just a short distance from this location is why I'm the way I am today. Everyone knew every one within a mile. We never had to worry about much of anything here.Locking our doors was unheard of. I dont even think we had a lock on one of our doors. If a strange car was in the area, everyone knew it before the person could leave. Bad part was if I did something I wasnt suppose to...mom and dad knew about it before I got home. It was a simple, yet fun way of life. In the 1980s the old falling oyster houes were burned by the local fire department to keep them from collapsing on someone or something. All that is left of the old post office is the green building here, which was part post office, part oil business. The families here today are mostly what we call 'come-heres'.A few old timers are still around...Once a Mobjacker, always a Mobjacker.
