At the above coordinates you will be able to look down through
a
skylight in the ground to a Sinking Stream. You will find
yourself
in the "Meadow" upon reaching this cache. If you look off to
the
East you will see a line of briars running off towards the far
end
of the meadow. If you have time carefully explore the other
briar
patches and you will see they are a line of holes, and in
some
places channels, that expose the Sinking Stream below the
surface.
Be very careful of where you step, and if you are performing
this
cache on horseback be mindful that the these holes are
everywhere
through the meadow. It is best to keep to the path.
This site is part of a Karst topography. Karst is defined as
a
landscape with sinkholes, springs, and streams that sink into
the
subsurface caverns. The word "Karst" was developed in Europe,
where
early geologists first studied the nature of groundwater
flowing
through limestone hills and valleys.

There are also great examples of sinkholes over by
Abbott's
Grave - GC1PY44. There are currently over 15 caches in this
park
and one could visit all of them by following the over 4.5 miles
of
provided trails.
To get credit for this Cache email the (1) Depth, Width
and
Length of the Skylight at this location, (2) Did you observe
any
water at the base during your visit, and (3) a photo of the
location.
