This is the replacement for my original The Bunker, 515 cache (GC2E98Y) that had to be archived. This is a brand new cache so if you logged the old one, you can log this one as a new find.
The other day, while waiting for my daughter to finish soccer practice, I started playing with my GPS. I was exploring the points of interest and one of the categories was "Geographic Points". I clicked on it and one that caught my eye was labeled The Bunker, 515 Ft.
I saw where it was and thought I would like to hike there. So I went home to look it up on line. Surprisingly, when I googled it, it came up. There is not much information about it...or why it is listed...but I figured there needed to be a cache there.
So...today, I hiked out to the spot. It is a good hike with a couple of good steep hills. Nothing too tough though. At the actual location of the GPS POI, there was nothing but some dead wood. The location is at an elevation of 515 feet (according to the GPS). But it is not even the highest point within site. So I wandered up to the top of the hill and started exploring.
Since I was not able to keep the original cache at it's location at the top of the hill...I figured I would let you see both sides of The Bunker. You will hike to the top and then back down the other side to get to the new cache location.
This container is home made is not at all obvious. Please be respectful of the environment while searching. The cache container is completely visible without uncovering anything. It may not be obvious...but it is in plain view.
Since the bounce here was pretty good, I will give you one small hint. This container fits the general setting but upon further examination it is a little out of place.
Good luck and enjoy the hike.
Parking: N 39° 27.524 W 076° 52.475
Parking for this is a little odd. Park in front of or to the right of the sign that allows you to park here. Do not park in front of the gate or anywhere near the No Parking sign. Once in the parking area, to get to the trail...as you face the No Parking sign the trail goes into the woods to your left. Follow it into the woods and then bear to the right and out onto the fire road going down the hill. Checking with DNR at Soldiers Delight, this is legal access to this area.
