Geocache Description:

The cache is placed in memory of past times and at the insistence of several of the “Rackers Offers” who now geocache interstate.

This little park is a shadow of its former self. From the early 1980’s until mid 1990’s this park was maintained by the local council Head of Parks and Gardens who lived nearby. It was surrounded by trees and bushy shrubs with walls of climbers facing Bass Strait and plenty of playground equipment. At dusk the local teenagers would don camouflage gear and head for the park to play their team version of hide and seek, a game they called "Rackings Off". Younger children who lived close by would sit in their bedroom windows hoping to see the shadowy figures drifting among the trees and dream of the time when they would be old enough to “Rack Off”. Alas the Head of Parks and Gardens retired, drought came and the trees, shrubs and climbers were gradually removed. All that remains is the well used basketball ring, a reservoir, 2 pieces of childrens play equipment and the lookout from which there are excellent views of the surrounding country side, Mt Roland, the Dial Range and Bass Strait. This is our first hide so any feedback on improvements would be appreciated. Cache contains a logbook only. You will need your own writing implement. If the log is not signed, the find will be deleted. Eclipse container - magnetic
