For 100 years the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we'll continue that journey into the next century. This cache is one of five to be placed around the Great Salt Lake Council highlighting Scouting programs. Find all five by searching on Geocaching.com for GSLC, Treasures of Scouting.
The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the expierences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It's also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
This cache was placed in a location where many types of action and adventure begin. Through the tunnel under Legacy Highway is Bountiful Pond. Many scouts have fished here and completed hours of community service. The Legacy Parkway Trail is here where runners, riders, and hikers can enjoy some time in the outdoors.
This is a popular area so use stealth and watch for muggles. PLEASE replace the cache as found so that it is not easily visible to passersby.
