About the monument:
In the early morning of October 19th, 1964, flying through the dense fog, an airplane carying Russian military officers, crashed at this site. They were suppose to attend the 20-year celebration for liberation of Belgrade.
In October 1944, these Heroes fought, side by side, with Yugoslav Partisans and helped liberate Belgrade from German occupation. After several days of intense fights and shelling Germans with Katyshas, on October 20th, 1944 Belgrade got liberated.
The monument was erected to mark the site and pay eternal tribute.
The cache is small black magnetic container. Please re-hide it the same or better then you found it, protected from rain and muggles (muggle-from Harry Potter: The mortar, the one without magic powers-> in Geo-world: the ones who wonder "what the hell are they (us) doing?").
Be stealthy!! Can't emphasize enough on this. In this case, someone's "curiosity can kill the cache" [;-)]
I averaged coordinates for about 15 minutes. Due to the nearby trees and close-by hillside, GPS signal might bounce. If you are having trouble finding the GZ, look at the spoiler picture, then count 9 away. Note that guardrail got replaced in the meantime.
Congratulation to John_Geilo and Scharzo for co-FTFs !!! Keep up the good work. Please hide a cache next time, when in Serbia...
How appropriate (and I mean this in all positive ways): A guy from San Diego (US) (yeah, that's me:) ) placed a cache in Serbia (well I was born here), to be FTF by guys from Germany , and it was all about Russians :)
