Spring Head (commonly called The Bluff )
In the early days the beach was the only road around The Bluff. Gogango Divisional Board built the first make-shift road in 1894 but it was washed away by the first king tide. Eventually the Farnborough Sugar Company constructed a road, receiving some payment from the Divisional Board.
The road you drive on today was funded by the Qld. Govt.as part of the International Resort. deal struck with the Iwasaki Co.
The cutting also fell down shortly after completion and extra stone and wirecage reinforcing blocks had to be installed.
Hope you have more success in finding this hide than the Govt. bodies had in building the road !!! Please bring your own pen.
