The Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way for
22 miles through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans,
Eastham and Wellfleet. Its paved surface, few hills, and
well-marked automobile crossings make it ideal for cyclists of all
ages & abilities. From the rotary (GC2D22D) you can either head
towards Harwich center & Chatham beyond that, or towards
Nickerson State Park & on to Wellfleet.
Recently, a direct route from the Cape Cod Rail Trail in Harwich
to Chatham's town center was also built. The extension comprises a
7.5-mile paved path from Harwich Center going past Brooks Park and
then through Thompson’s Field heading east. In Chatham, you
can watch planes fly in and out of the airport while riding towards
its historic Main Street district. This new addition was christened
the Old Colony Rail Trail, in honor of the abandoned railway line
it follows between Harwich and Chatham.
The Stealth Trio thought there should be more caches along such a
nice bike path & are doing what they can to make that happen.
We hope you enjoy them!
