Geocache Description:

Because it is located at a school, please consider the time of day
in which you search for this cache. This cache has been placed with
permission from the school to help us complete a requirement for
our geocaching merit badge. As you search for this cache, enjoy the
many Eagle projects around Corpus Christi Catholic School. We have
enjoyed placing this cache to show fellow geocachers what Eagle
Scouts from Troop 157 have done for the community.

This is the third of twelve Cache to Eagle hides in Gerald R. Ford Council-and the first of three within Lakeshore District.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that- on average- requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (Based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51)

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions.

At Corpus Christi, there are a total of 4 Eagle projects that have been completed for all to enjoy at the school.

The first Eagle project was completed by John in 2004. He installed a French drainage ditch near the preschool playground wing to keep the area from flooding. Many volunteer hours were needed to complete his project.

The second Eagle project was completed in 2008 by Dexter. He built 3 garbage recepticals which are placed around the school's play area. A total of 128 volunteer hours were needed to complete his project.

The third Eagle project was completed by Scott in 2009. With volunteers helping, he built an observation deck over the pond near the school. A total of 515 volunteer hours were needed to complete his project.

The fourth Eagle project was completed by Justin in 2010. He built and installed benches along the side of the pond to be used as an instructional area for classes.
A total of 159 volunteer hours were needed to complete his project.

Please take note of the point of the scout law provided on the inside lid, and also on the cache log.

When you have all twelve points of the scout law (note they are NOT in order on the caches!) please email RedhedMary at aol.com - the first 24 to finish will earn a special commemorative patch!

Watch for the other ten caches in our council's series, coming soon to an Eagle project near you!
