This cache is located along the Black Mountain high king, oops I mean hiking trail. This is Forest Service trail 1185 and it winds through some spectacular terrain. It is approximately a 3 mile hike from the trail head on county road 27 and there is a little over a 1000 ft. elevation gain but every step of it is worth the views from the top. The only word I can come up to describe it is AWESOME! The wife and I are both 58 years old and admittedly a little out of shape but we managed the hike. We’re both acclimated to higher elevations so I’m not saying that people used to flatter lands won’t have some breathing problems but you won’t want to hurry the trip anyway as there is so much beauty to take in. Take plenty of water some trail snacks and the camera. Don’t forget the elevation here is 10,771 feet plus and weather change can be dramatic, especially in the spring and fall, so pack rain gear and warm jackets just in case. Be sure to find the other caches along the trail too.

Have fun!
