Title: The Best Kept Secret!
Kettunen Center is Michigan 4-H Foundation’s best kept secret! The center was named after A.G. Kettunen Center for his 20 plus years of serving as the State Director of Michigan 4-H Youth Development Program. Kettunen Center is a full-service conference center owned and operated by the Michigan 4-H Foundation. Kettunen Center is the state leadership training site for 4-H teen and adult leaders. The Michigan 4-H Foundation solicits grants and donations to support 4-H programs. The 4-H’s represent the head, heart, hands and health of a child development. Local and state-wide 4-H programs require the support of adult volunteer mentors to provide guidance for a child’s physical, emotional, experience-based development and life-long learning.
This cache is being placed to teach Geocaching as part of Kettunen Center’s Road Scholar program. Participants are first instructed in the use of the GPS and then taken out to find caches. This cache will be their first official cache on the journey to becoming official Geocachers. Other cachers are always welcome to find this cache and to learn more about the activities at the Kettunen Center. Kettunen Center is located five miles east of Tustin, Michigan.
Kettunen Center is the natural place for adult retreats, workshops, and conferences, weddings, Road Scholar programs as well as family events and family reunions, youth band camps and other summer camps, and school group programs. Kettunen Center offers a variety of services from premium lodging, meeting rooms and meal service for adult groups, to dormitory style lodging and camp meals for youth groups. Kettunen Center is proud of its Green Lodging certification and the quality of environmental and outdoor educational programs for adults, children and families. The cache is a camo’d peanut butter jar that contains a log book, pencil and assorted trinkets. FTF prize is a gold $1 coin.
