Raw Strip is a patch of land next to Lizzie Brice's Strip. The cache is a small plastic container with logbook and a selection of swaps. There are good tarmac footpaths to within a few metres of the cache.
Lizzie Brice (or Bryce) lived from 1776 to 1865. She married a local ploughman in 1799 and they lived in Raw Cottage near the site of the present day petrol station. She outlived her husband and stayed there with her daughter who was also widowed. The two women kept some cows on their land, known as Raw Strip, but after her death, the part nearest her cottage eventually became known as Lizzie Brice's Strip. Raw Strip remains, and is home to a fine selection of trees.
