This is a circular route around Oxted, Limpsfield and Old Oxted of approximately 10 miles and comprising of 25 caches. There are caches of varying sizes, all fairly easily found, with some positioned as indicators as to which path should be taken. However, due to the size of some of the caches, it would be advisable to carry a pin. As parts of the route are not well signposted extra directions are given where necessary. The terrain is variable but the North Downs Way, to the north of Oxted has some steep ascents/descents. To the south, the Greensand way to the south is much flatter. The terrain grading is an average for the whole route.
Please take care when entering your east/west co-ordinates as the route crosses the meridian line twice.
Inevitably, a circular walk around Oxted involves crossing several main roads, but at least the M25 has bridges! Please note that you have to cross the A25 between caches #2 and #3. Also you have to cross the B217 between caches #6 and# 7. These are both very busy roads with fast traffic, so please take care especially if you are accompanied by children and/or animals. The route can be very muddy in places and due to the variation in terrain, good walking footwear is recommended. After about 6 miles, the route takes you through Old Oxted crossing the High Street which has four pubs all serving food on a couple of hundred yards stretch, a good spot to stop for refreshment about half way through the circuit, (our favourite is The George).
Should you wish a shorter easier walk do the OMO Shortcut series #1-4 after OMO #6 and it will bring you back to the car park making a walk of 4 miles and takes about 2 hours
