Helppo peruskätkö Kihniön entisen rautatieaseman läheisyydessä / Easy traditional cache near the former railway station of Kihniö
Kätkö sijaitsee noin 10 km päässä Kihniön keskustasta.
Kihniön rautatieasema on toiminut osana Pori-Haapamäki -rataa. Paikkakuntalaiset olivat toivoneet rautatietä jo 1800-luvun lopulta lähtien, mutta vuoden 1900 valtiopäivät hylkäsi anomuksen. Kihniöläiset pitivät rautatietä kuitenkin niin tärkeänä, että kunta sitoutui luovuttamaan tarvittavat maa-alueet ilmaiseksi sekä jokainen täysikasvuinen mies lupautui tekemään ilmaista työtä yhtenä päivänä rautatierakennuksella.
Rautatie vihittiin käyttöön 12.11.1938, mutta rataosa Parkano-Virrat avattiin henkilö- ja tavaraliikenteelle jo vuotta aiemmin. Viimeinen henkilöliikennejuna lähti asemalta 31.5.1981, mutta satunnainen tavaraliikenne jatkuu vielä tänäkin päivänä.

The cache is located about 10 km from the centre of Kihniö.
The Kihniö railway station has been part of the Pori-Haapamäki railway. Local people had wished for the railway connection from the end of the 1800's, but the parliament rejected the first application in 1900. However, the locals were so persistent with the railway that every grown up man committed to work one day for the railway station. In addition, the commune assigned the necessary real property for free.
Eventually, the opening ceremonies of the railway were held on 12th of November 1938, but Parkano-Virrat part was taken into use one year earlier. The last passenger train departed Kihniö station on 31th of May 1981. There has been infrequent cargo transportation even till these days.
