From the road, I would not suggest trekking straight down to the cache, it's preferable you use the trail. While facing the river, walk to your right about 65ft, to the road marker, and head down from there.
If you have time after the cache, continue along the trail, turn right at the end and visit the beach.
Get your toes wet before getting back on the road. The beach is nice and sandy (not rocky) with a very shallow slope (great for the kids) and friendly dogs welcome too.
