Geocache Description:

Take a stroll around Golden Acre Park, including the Adel Dam nature reserve. You will find clues as you go to help you solve this Sudoku puzzle cache :) There are a few other great caches to pick up along the way.

THE GIVEN CO-ORDINATES ARE FOR THE MAIN CAR PARK. Bear in mind that this gets busy at weekends, particularly in the afternoon when the weather is nice. In addition, some of the clues for the Sudoku puzzle are not to be found in the park so do your homework before you set off!

From the main car park, head down to the underpass leading into Golden Acre Park itself. Before you cross under, don't miss the sign for Breary Marsh on your right-hand side. How many different types of birds are shown?

When you go through the underpass you're going to turn right and walk anti-clockwise around the lake. Make sure you stop off to feed the birds-- how many ducks do you count inside the green metal viewing area?

Continuing along the path you will eventually come to a fork, where you must take the right-hand path. You will walk down and bend left towards the gate to the Adel Dam nature reserve. As you enter the reserve, please read the rules and respect the environment. It is here for you and everyone else to enjoy.

Dogs are not allowed in the Adel Dam reserve itself but are allowed throughout the rest of Golden Acre Park

Follow the path into the reserve and you will approach a bird hide on your left-hand side. Go in and spend a bit of time enjoying the peace and quiet. How many viewing hatches do you count?

When you've finished, take up the path again and follow it round to another, older-looking bird hide. Go up the 'steps' and spend a bit of time in here. In the summer you can spot many of the birds on the chart behind you, and at sunset the bats come out! How many viewing hatches are in here?

When you've finished, come out of the hide and follow the path round to the left to enjoy the rest of the nature reserve. You will eventually arrive back at the gate where you entered.

Turn right out of the gate and follow the path. Shortly after you cross the bridge there is a gap in the fence where you can rejoin the main path and continue around the main lake. If the weather is bad you can stop off in a wooden shelter on your right-hand side as you walk up to the cafe. How many benches are there inside the shelter?

Once you reach the cafe you need to stop and take a well-earned rest. You can't look for the cache yet because you still have to solve the Sudoku! The grid may look sparse but hopefully the numbers you noted down around the park will help.

You are looking for a half-litre Lock 'n 'Lock container with a log and room for a few small swaps.

There is only one solution to this Sudoku, so don't be disappointed if you can't be bothered to follow the walk and pick up the starting numbers ;)
