Geocache Description:

Located within Yoakum Point State Park. The terrain is generally flat but not wheel chair accessible. GPS bounces around a lot here, so pull out your investigative skills using the information provided.

Yoakum Point is an undeveloped Oregon State Park. Remnants of an old farm house and out buildings can be detected within the park boundaries. The main trail into this unique park is a part of the old Simpson highway used to reach the Shore Acres Estate.

The park is full of unique structured cedar trees, excellent coastal vistas, great cliff fishing sites, mussel beds, concretion walls, an exposed coal fracture line, and one of the largest collection sites for sea shells on the west coast.

Look for a row of about 15 trees, growing in a straight line. When you get to the end of the row, look for a side trail that cuts between the 3rd and 4th tree from the end and head into the dense forest.

This cache is at ground level tucked away in the root hollow of a dead standing tree...known as a "HIGH STUMP". This stump is a good 15 feet tall.

The moss covered fallen portion of the tree lies at its base laying in a southeast direction.

Bring your own writing device.

Once you find the cache, return to the main trail. You can continue down the main trail to access Lighthouse Beach. A popular beach for dog walking and surfers.

Please repsect private property boundy fences.
