Geocache Description:

SK: Jednoduchá keška venovaná krásne zrekonštruovanému vojenskému cintorínu v Petržalke v pohraničnom pásme s Rakúskom.
EN: An easy cache dedicated to a beautifully renovated military cemetery in Petržalka near the Slovakian-Austrian border.

Slovensky

Otváracie hodiny: Po-Pia 14:00-20:00, So-Ne a sviatky 10:00-20:00
Cache sa nachádza mimo areálu cintorína.

English
The military cemetery was established during the 1st World War I in 1916 as a complement to a military hospital where heavily wounded soldiers were treated. The cemetery was completed probably around 1922. Buried here are generally soldiers who died in military hospitals, thus they were not the soldiers who died on the battlefield.

331 soldiers were buried in a separate graves - most soldiers' nationality was Czecho-Slovakian but Hungarians, Yugoslavs, Romanians, Austrians, Russians, Italians, Poles and Germans were also buried here

The cemetery was also used during the Second World War. The cemetery is relatively unknown to the public, because it was located in the border zone in the former communist regime.

The cemetery decayed until 2005 when its reconstruction began. It was finished in 2009.

A military bunker BS8 - Hřbitov is located nearby the cemetery. It was a part of Czechoslovakian border fortifications from the years 1935-1938. You can find more information about the bunker on http://bs8.yw.sk/ or on the pages of the legendary multicache GC17WBJ - Bunkers of Petrzalka.

Opening hours: Mon-Fri 14:00 to 20:00, Sat-Sun and holidays 10:00 to 20:00
Cache is located outside of the cemetery.
