Small cache. Located in an interesting area I used to live in. Whitworth Park is inbetween the Univeristy of Manchester and the start of the famous 'Curry Mile'.
The curry mile is quite a site- especially in th evening when the lights come on. You've probably never seen so many curry houses in one street.
The Whitworth Art Gallery is just near GZ and well worth a visit- and it's free :-)
A statue of King Edward VII on the east side of the park (unveiled in 1913) commemorates the royal visit when the new Royal Infirmary buildings were opened in 1909.
