Simple hike through beautiful Audubon Naturalist Society: Woodend Nature Sanctuary.

The Audubon Naturalist Society inspires residents of the greater Washington, DC region to appreciate, understand, and protect their natural environment through outdoor experiences, education, and advocacy.

This is an excellent easy hike through the woods that should take a slow walker 5 min round-trip.

Please remember, the grounds of ANS Woodend are protected - NO DOGS - stay on the path as much as possible, do not remove anything natural (including seeds, pine cones, etc.) - "cache in, trash out". If there's a wedding going on, please make yourself invisible.

Enjoy the hike. If you're quiet, there's a very good chance you'll see some serious wildlife. While there, explore the other areas by following the hiking trails near the pond, through the meadow and around the mansion. Learn about composting, browse the gift shop and ask about different classes for kids and adults!

Our daughter chose this site since she spent two years at their pre-school (best pre-school in the country). We have loved exploring the grounds - we are glad to share this special place with you!
