Geocache Description:

Quick cache and dash. Stealth is required as it can get busy at times.

From the cache site you can see two structures in the fields.

The Macrae monument or mausoleum can been seen from the cache site it was built around 1750 in corinthian style, with alcove, urns and obelisk. James Macrae himself died before it was completed and was buried in monkton church.
The structure collapsed shortly after construction and had to be re-built before it then started slowly deteriorating. it was restored in 2000-2001, it was found to contain coffins of a likely 18th century style and the skeletons of two men, two woman and two children of unknown identity. the bones were replaced after examination.

The other structure is an old windmill, it is also called the doocot or dovecot

THE BEST WAY TO RETREIVE CACHE IS TO LEAVE CORD AND LID ATTACHED TO THE BRANCH AND JUST UNSCREEW BOTTOM OF CONTAINER.
