Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES!
You must first locate the following two ships/locations containing clues to the final resting place of the Red October.

The Jolly Roger

The Wanderer

Some time ago the legendary captain Marko Ramius defected from the former Soviet Union, and with him, he brought an experimental nuclear submarine called the Red October. As this was the height of the Cold War fleets of ships from both sides took part in a massive search to locate him. Recently declassified intelligence indicates his initial contact with the US Navy took place off of the coast of San Diego's North County from Oceanside to Encinitas where, under direction of the US Navy, he sailed his submarine up Buena Vista Creek to a top secret naval installation somewhere in the San Marcos area. Along the way various ships came in contact with the Red October and recorded data regarding it's final destination. This data was encoded and dispersed up and down the coast. It has been revealed that there are two ships/locations along the coast where codes have been hidden.

To find the final resting spot of the Red October you must first locate these codes and solve the following equations.

Parking: N 33° 06.310 W 117° 13.025

Trail head: N 33° 06.400 W 117° 12.990

Final resting spot of the Red October: N 33° 06.321+The Wanderer W 117° 12.956-The Jolly Roger
