Geocache Description:

Lag Ny Keeilley (Hollow of the Chapel) is believed to be the site of an early8th century christian hermitage on the steep hills near Eary Cushlin.

The keeil is located on an old packhorse track and there is evidence of a small living cell and herb garden. The burial ground contains stone-lined lintel graves, and some very simple slate crosses have been found.

The path is quite narrow and precarious in some places owing to the steep hillside, so be careful on the walk there.

There is plenty of parking at the Eary Cushlin turn-off, and another car park further along the Eary Cushlin road, closer to the cache.

Follow the track towards the sea from the car park, turn towards the sea again at the house and then bear left and follow the path to the site. Once at the chapel remains, the co-ordinates should lead you straight to the cache.

The cache is a small plastic container inside a camo bag. It contains a bag of tumblestones and has room for small swaps.

Please note that the keeil is an ancient monument and under no circumstances should stones or the ground at the site be disturbed.

The geocache has been placed on Manx National Heritage(MNH) land with the consent of MNH.
