Greetings from Townsend, MA to Townshend, VT!
In the distant past of the mid to late 1970s I used to go to an annual Bluegrass Festival in nearby Newfane, and first discovered that there was a Townshend (VT) and a West Townshend (VT).
Since I was born and raised here in Townsend (MA) and we also have a West Townsend (MA), I decided that a long distance Geo-handshake was in order and placed 5 caches in the greater Townshend (VT) area.
My hopes is that someone from Townshend (VT) will take the long ride down Rt30s to Rt119e and place a few caches in the "other" Townsend.
P.S. I believe both towns were named after Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who authored several Parlimentary Acts that lead to the Boston Tea Party - and ultimately to the War of Independence.
(We started misspelling it in the early 1800s)
