Mapleton village has an award-winning outdoor education centre campsite that is one of the largest providers of camps in Queensland and introduces kids to the joy of orienteering through their outdoor education program.
Call it the beginning of the training process for the next generation of Geocachers.
This is a tricky cache if you can tear yourself from the glorious view and great coffee at Mapleton village.
The cache is now in a pleasant and secluded park close to Mapleton Village. If you want to make a picnic of it, there are some tables and chairs nearby. There's a bridge involved. Take the time to listen to the abundant frog song. Frogs = healthy waterways ...
Cache History:
23 SEPTEMBER 2012: CACHE RESTORED AFTER IT WAS WASHED OUT IN THE BIG SUMMER RAINS OF 2011/12. NEW LOCATION IS SLIGHTLY HIGHER AND OUT OF THE BIG FLOOD LEVELS.
22 DECEMBER 2014: CACHE MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION AT THE REQUEST OF THE OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTRE BECAUSE THE FORMER LOCATION ENCROACHED ON ITS LAND.
