Parking: N 39.62341 W 78.54095
You can just pull off the side of the road here and walk the old logging road to get near the cache.

This is the first cache in the Treemendous Trees cache series. The series highlights large specimens of different species of trees throughout Allegany County. More information on the Big Tree Program can be found at bigtrees.allconet.org.

Located approximately 0.15 miles into the woods off of Jacobs Road. This is a dirt road, but is accessible in most vehicles under normal conditions. You may call the forest headquarters at 301-478-3124 prior to seeking this cache for current road conditions. This is especially recommended in the winter months as this road is not plowed. Public hunting is allowed in the forest, and bright colors should be worn during hunting seasons.

Green Ridge State Forest is one of Maryland's largest state forests and consists of approximately 46,000 acres of pine, oak, and hickory forests. Recreational opportunities include camping, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, public shooting range, hunting, fishing, and paddling. The nearby C & O Canal (operated by the National Park Service) offers biking, hiking, and horseback riding opportunities. The state of Maryland obtained the first portions of GRSF in 1931, and has continued to manage the forest for many uses.

Congrats to mfmanner on FTF!
