ghostly rescue

Many years ago on a stormy Halloween night this was the scene of a terrible car accident. That was long before this road was paved and the bridge was a basic wooden structure. Exactly a year later a local man and his wife on their way home from a Halloween party on this same stretch of road, noticed a figure in the distance. As they got closer they could see it was a woman at the side of the road signaling for them to stop. The wife thought it might be a prank on a late Halloween eve and told her husband to keep driving because they had no idea what they might be getting themselves into. She told him since they were so close to home, they would get there and call the authorities so they could come out and investigate the situation. The husband agreed but slowed down as they approached because he wanted to be sure no one was hurt or in immediate danger. As they got closer, they noticed the woman was covered with cuts and bruises on her face and arms. The husband decided he could not just drive by and had to stop to see if he could help. The cut and bruised woman was very upset, hysterically begging for them to help. She told them she had just been in a car accident and her husband and son, a new born baby, were still inside the car which had gone off the bridge up ahead. It was down in the ravine near the creek. She said her husband did not survive, but her baby was still alive and trapped in the child seat in the back seat of the car. She was not able to get him out but did not want to leave him to go for help. The husband went down to try to rescue the baby and asked the hurt woman to stay with his wife inside the car. When he reached the creek, his only concern was to get the baby out of the back seat. The baby seemed unhurt, but was agitated and beginning to cry. The man was not able to unbuckle the seatbelt or remove the seat, but used his pocket knife to cut the straps that were restraining the child. He quickly took him back up the bank to his mother. When he got back up to his car, he did not see the mother so he asked his wife where she had gone. She told him that the woman had followed him back down to the crash, and she assumed she was with him. The man gave the baby to his wife and went back down to get the woman. Heading back toward the car he then noticed there were two people in the front seat, both still in their seatbelts and both were clearly dead. A man in the driver seat and a woman in the passenger seat. As he looked closer, he noticed the passenger was the same woman that had pulled them over begging them for help!
