Geocache Description:

The cache is in a semi-natural setting within an urban environment. You will need to be careful of muggles. Recommend looking for this cache in the early morning during a week-end. During the day, it's a high traffic area and people everywhere. If you need to take a break, there is a picnic table across from the site where you can read and scope out the area.

Congratulations!!! To Team.Hepler for FTF!!

UPDATE 31OCT2015: I haven't been it C'Ville in several years. However, based on the logs, the cache seems to be doing fine. I believe the Whale Tail is no longer near this location. But, it's still a heck of a good find. You can still see some the history of the whale's tail at this link (visit link) - Thanks and happy hunting.

A view of the tails is something to see. At the site, you will find yourself near a center of academic administration. The tails are part of the larger Charlottesville Art in Place (visit link) This cache is designed to bring attention to the effort of community culture in C'Ville. The three whale tails are the replacement to the single whale tail broken by a micro burst in Summer of 2010.

Once you find the cache, take time to check out the Art in Place. Take caution in crossing roads and bridges. The cache location is designed to provide a safe park and then walk location.

The original cache had several trackables. The travel coin (www.worldcaching.com) has a mission to go from sea to shining sea. The silver fish needs to move fast (geocaching.com). And the spirit of the bottle opener travel bug is let the geocache enthusiast who finds it to use it to sample a cold beverage from worldly travels. Travel bug also matches a vehicle travel bug. If you spot the car, drop me an post with the car license plate # for bragging rights. Original Contents: Army Key Chain, Compass Key Chain, Log Book, FTF button, Pen, Silver Fish Travel Bug, Ocean Geocoin, Army Pocket knife, ID card lanyard Contact for Vehicle TB through Geocache Website.
