Spejama, kad senoveje šioje vietoje buvo Kartenos piliakalnio gyventoju kulto vieta. Istorija pasakoja, kad praejusio amžiaus pradžioje Abaku kaime gyvenes Kazimieras Navirauskas. Gyvenes vienas, be šeimos. Kazimieras jau buvo gerokai pagyvenes, kai jam prisisapnavo nepaprastas sapnas. Pasirodžiusi Marija ir Kristus. Sapnas kartojesis tris kartus. Dievobaimingasis Kazimieras sapnus savaip išsiaiškines ir sumanes irengti Lurda. Toje vietoje, kur per sapna pasirode Marija, sumurijo Lurda, o ten, kur prisisapnavo Kristus, pastate kryžiu.
1922 m. šalia Lurdo buvo pastatyta medine koplycia. Praeito amžiaus viduryje šalia koplycios stovejusiame namelyje gyveno buvusi vienuole, kuri vietos vaikus moke tikybos ir poteriu. 2005 m. vasara Kartenos bendruomenes centras irenge i Lurda pesciuju taka, buvo pastatyti koplytstulpiai ir išdrožti simboliniai vartai.

We suppose that this place was the ancient place of worship of the Kartena hill fort inhabitants. History tells us that at the beginning of the last century Kazimieras Navirauskas lived in the village Abak. He had no family and lived alone. Kazimieras was already well advanced in years when he had an extraordinary dream. The advent of Christ and Mary. The dream recurred three times. The pious Kazimieras explained these dreams in his own way and decided to build a Lourdes. In the place where the Virgin Mary appeared in his dream he built a Lourdes of bricks, and the place where Christ appeared was marked with a cross.
In 1922 next to the Lourdes a wooden chapel was built. In the middle of the last century a former nun who taugh the local children religion and prayers lived in the living house near the chapel. In the summer of 2005 the Community of Kartena installed a walkway to Lourdes, also a carved crucifix and a symbolic gateway were erected.
