Vinton County has 5 remaining covered bridges (out of over 60 at one time) and this was the only one without a cache. Mt. Olive Road was a major route at the time of construction (1875) between Chillicothe and Marietta.
This bridge is only used for foot trafic, a steel bridge has been built along side in 1999. However, the bridge was fully repaired in 2006 by ODOT and is a good example of a Queenspost construction. It is 48' long.
