radiomom: Shiny new gate, closed, shiny new "keep out" sign... There's no longer a legit way to reach this cache. Hope I can retrieve the ammo box some time.

Geocache Description:

I'm a big fan of big caches. I'd much rather find a massive ammo box than sift through prickly bushes looking for a tiny camouflaged hanging cache. You too? Then you'll love this one. It's an ammo box stuffed (initially) with some high-tech goodies for the FFTF (First Few To Find). There's a pocket password minder, a fingerprint reader, and even an obsolete Yoggie Gatekeeper for the truly nerdy cacher.

I originally planned this as a challenge cache, requiring the finder to first place a cache that I could find on my bike. I planned to call it "What have you done for ME lately?" (you'll still see that name on the label). I figured, cachers from out of the area could instead find one of my other caches to satisfy the challenge. BUT after submitting it I learned that the new challenge cache rules don't allow requiring finders to place a cache.

So I modified the challenge to just find one of my other caches first. That would make me happy. Still no good - another clause of the challenge cache rules, apparently, says you can't do that. Oh, well, I did at least have a puzzle planned that you'd solve by looking at the descriptions of my other caches…

And then I met another cacher bemoaning the fact that Davis is just too filled with puzzles, challenges, multi-caches and doesn't have enough plain normal caches.

So, this just a NICE BIG HAPPY CACHE! No puzzle, no challenge, no multi-stage, nothing fancy. WARNING: You may be tempted to place yourself directly south of the final coordinates and make your way north. This is illegal and dangerous. It's not just the railroad tracks – depending on the time of year you'll cross either one or two muddy drainage canals. The correct approach starts about a mile to the west; it should be fairly obvious. Best to finish the caching run on foot or bicycle. Have fun!
