Fairly easy P & G
For as long as I can remember, this location has been referred to as "The Junction". Back before I-40, this was a busy intersection, when little towns like Dill City to the east were bustling little communities. The nearby building at one time was a service station, once was a cafe, and its last business was a gift shop/beauty parlor. For about thirty years now, it has stood vacant, with evidently no one interested in buying it.
The little trailer house to the west was the local tag office for many years. It was a cramped, cluttered little office, but the "tag lady" knew exactly which cubby hole to stuff a certain paper in, or which dusty file cabinet held the form she needed. For the last few years, the local tag office has been located in Burns Flat.
One not-so-good thing about "The Junction" is that it has always been a dangerous intersection, with many accidents occurring here. In the past years, the State Highway department has cut down the hill to the west, which has improved visibility of traffic from that direction, but the angle of the intersecting highways still makes for limited visibility, I guess. Maybe it's just that so many of the locals have gone through this intersection so many times, that they just forget to look for oncoming traffic. One friend, who traveled through this intersection going to work every day, said her husband always told her, "Be careful at the junction!" before she would leave for work.
Contrats to 2Moore for the FTF!
