Attention!!! Please read the entire cache description before attempting this cache!
First of all, let me say that this cache is not for the faint at heart. This is very rugged and potentially dangerous terrain. There are several areas on the descent to GZ that could yield a fall especially in wet or even damp conditions. A section of rope, though not required, may be useful to help your "partner" back up out of the area. The area becomes much more dangerous and difficult when wet and almost unreachable during some winter months.
The trail head starts at the north side of Horsehead lake just past the swim area. The road will turn north and Y about a quarter mile up. You will turn right and follow the obvious main road. I would recommend a pickup or SUV type vehicle. During incliment weather, a 4x4 will most likely be necessary to reach the turn off. After traveling up the mountain a ways, you will notice a steep gorge to your right, you are getting close. If you look close enough you can see some cliffs and what looks like a pedistal type rock. Once you reach the top, stop and park, or make a right turn here: N35_35.167', W093_38.806'. From here you can either walk 1/4 mile or make the drive to: N35_35.333', W093_38.630' where you will take the somewhat obscure ATV trail to the right by foot travel.
Now is where it starts getting harder. Follow the trail till it stops and make your way to: N35_35.202', W093_38.638. These coords put you at an awesome viewpoint atop a rocky outcrop. To the right of said location is a slanted rockface that must be descended. Head left at the bottom towards the cache coords and notice the semi-bluff shelter. From here you are on your own. Use Extreme caution for the next 50ft. To your right will be a bluff that is probably 50ft high so be very careful.
I have told you the best and safest way down to GZ but please use your head and if the terrain looks too difficult for you, don't try it. There are only a few rules for this cache that I expect to be followed: TAKE A PARTNER, NO KIDS, and RESPECT THE AREA removing any trash you bring in.
You're looking for a fully loaded ammo can. Please if/when you trade, please trade even or trade up. There is a bunch of cool stuff inside including a FTF prize (a custom made gps lanyard), a paracord bracelet and several cache containers.
Finally, I have made several trips up here and put my time, energy, and money into this cache, so please leave a good descriptive log about your experience. I look forward to reading your logs.
Thanks for searching out my first 5/5.
Please be careful!!! You might want to bring a camera!
FTF honors go to hot-rod and captaincooder!
